The concept of security (traditional and non-traditional) occupies a key role in the study of foreign affairs. The notion of security has changed and diversified from the traditional military security to multi facets of security concepts which include the political, economic, military, environmental and social life. Therefore, Defense and Security Studies shall concentrate more specifically on topics of security by situating itself in the larger domain of international relations.

Mr. Shubham Rai
Mr. Shubham Rai is a Research Fellow at the Centre for Security and Defence Studies, FGS. He is currently pursuing his Master’s in Global Studies at Ambedkar University Delhi. He is a practitioner in the field of global affairs and voracious reader on globalization and geo-political issues. He has recently presented his paper on Indian diaspora and Soft power in an international academic conference.
